Roasters notes: This may be the fruitiest washed coffee you’ve ever had. I’ve been a big fan of these anaerobic washed coffees that have the body and cleanliness of a washed coffee, but with the fruit flavors often associated with naturals. It’s the best of both worlds.
Juan Peña is likely a name you’ve heard before – he’s an award winning producer with a 28 acre farm at super high altitudes in the Ecuadorian Andes, who’s coffees are often found at the competition level. This particular lot was fermented in polyethylene tanks for 100 hours with strict temperature controls, prior to being dried on raised beds for 30 days.
The resulting cup is complex and sure to be a crowd pleaser. Dark fruits and berries are wrapped up in a thick chocolatey body. Subtle floral and black tea notes are also present, and there’s plenty to ponder in every sip. The perfect coffee for spring and onward!
